The film career of Chips Rafferty, one of the iconic Australian actors of the twentieth century, stretched from the late 1930s to his death in 1971. During this time, he appeared frequently in major Australian feature films, as well as in a number of British and American productions. In the late 1950s, he even appeared in a series of commercials aired in Britain that set out to encourage British emigration to Australia. In addition to his acting career, Rafferty also produced and wrote the screenplays for a number of films.
