The Apprentice was one of several short films to be included Movie 43, a film made up of a series of short inter-connected films, and produced by Charles B. Wessler.

The Apprentice was co-directed by Brisbane filmmaker Steve Baker and Damon Escott, and will be produced by Steve Kearney and Leanne Tonkes (Melbourne-based Mini Studios).

Ultimately, The Apprentice was cut from the theatrical release of Movie 43, but was subsequently made available by the film-makers on Vimeo.
