BiographyHistory

Charlotte Maramis attended Saint Catherine's Ladies' College in Sydney. She met her future husband, Indonesian Petty Officer Anton Maramis, in 1943 while he was in Sydney. In the mid-1950s, Maramis 'spent four years studying journalism while working on the English-language newspaper The Indonesian Observer'.

Maramis's trilogy, gathered under the general title Echoes, covers Indonesia's struggle for independence through the eyes of an Australian married to an Indonesian.
