BiographyHistory

Charles Melton was a 19th and early 20th century Brisbane press identity. He started work at the Moreton Bay Courier in ca. 1858, at the age of 14, and spent much of his 70 year career employed in the printing department at what became the Brisbane Newspaper Company stable. In his later years he worked in the literary department at the Queenslander. During the first decades of the 20th century, he wrote a number of newspaper articles on 19th century Brisbane under the name 'Nut Quad'.
