1 The Persistence of Memory. Spanish Contribution to the Colonial Literature of Western Australia Dragana Zivancevic , 1999 single work criticism
— Appears in: Memories of Migration : Seminar Proceedings, University of Western Sydney Macarthur, 4 & 5 September 1998 1999; (p. 99-110) In this article, Zivancevic discusses two texts which are identified as the most important Spanish contributions to Western Australian literature in the 1800s and early 1900s. Following a discussion of Memorie Storiche dell'Australia, the author turns to 'The History of Drysdale River Mission' or 'La Nueva Mision Benedictina del Drysdale River', an account of the exploratory voyage and foundation of the new mission at Drysdale River. The text was written by Fr. Roberto Bas, New Norcia's Prior at the time (1910). The manuscript is held at the New Norcia Archives (Ms. 01020). Zivancevic argues that Bas's writing 'is both Australian and Spanish, with two different intentions and agendas and two different readerships' (p. 107).
