A wealthy man buys a derelict property so that it can be turned into an orphanage for babies, to be run by Anglican nuns. Once established, he visits with his seven year old son who forms a friendship with a four year old orphan girl. Sixteen years pass before the son again visits, just before he leaves for war. Love blossoms between the boy and girl when they re-establish their friendship. The future, however, holds many twists for their relationship.
