'Tip' Kelaher was born in Sydney in 1914, and spent many of his early years in north-western New South Wales. During the Depression he left New South Wales to work on a sheep station in Queensland. In 1940 he enlisted in the AIF Machine Gun Battalion. He was killed in action in Egypt in July 1942.
