A suburban girl who goes flatting in search of independence and bohemian life is disillusioned , but clings to her dream, including a plan to buy lounge chairs with cash only, until her fortune-telling attempt foretells the arrival of a fair young man. When the door bell rings he turns out to be a furniture salesman.

A composer's wife with an over-sentimental view of marital fidelity is surprised when she refuses a request to broadcast a song written supposedly for her alone, only to hear it sung by someone else with the same claim, and then discover at least ten other women with copies. She then abandons her illusion and briskly burns the rest of her marital mementoes.
