'Like a South African prayer, in ‘No surrender’, Kevin Summers and Liam Gillespie explore the impact of rhino poaching from the perspective of a survivor.
'The issue of rhino poaching is South Africa is internationally known. Poachers use brutal methods to rip the horn out by the roots while the animals are still alive to supply a market in Asia. In ‘No Surrender’ a family of three rhinos, Roger and his brother and daughter are poached. Humans step in to help the survivors recover. In the new epoch of human domination of nature it may also be a metaphor for our intervention in the lives of the elderly.'
