BiographyHistory

Queenie Paul joined a J. C. Williamson chorus at age 15, and remained in the variety entertainment business for the rest of her life. By 1916 she had risen to principal boy status, starring in the Fullers' Bunyip pantomime. The following year she met her future husband and business partner Mike Connors while touring with Bert Le Blanc's Travesty Stars. The pair worked together almost continuously for the Fullers up until the 1930s (including several years with Stiffy and Mo). Connors and Paul were largely involved in production and management during the 1930s, and at one stage ran a re-organised Tivoli circuit. After Connors death in 1949 Paul continued entertaining and was actively involved in various entrepreneurial ventures.

In 1982 Paul was awarded an OAM and made her last appearance on the stage, this being a concert at Newtown Leagues Club on 29 July. She died two days later in her home at Dulwich Hill.
