Robert Medew was part of a large family and spent his childhood in Gippsland, Victoria. For many years he farmed in the Dawson Valley in Central Queensland until ill health forced him to retire. He turned to writing after moving to Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast, focussing on local history.
