Bourjaily was a Lebanese-American author, born in Ohio, 1922. He served in the United States Army between 1944 and 1946 and later became a Professor of English and the writer of many novels. His early novels trace the impact of the second world war on his generation of Americans. His book, Confessions of a Spent Youth was banned in Australia.
