Traces the history of the Cadogans from their Welsh origins in Abergavenny, the voyage to Australia and sinking of the Pandora, to the gold towns of Victoria. In the 1890's the family had connections with William Lane and the New Australia movement, with Rose and Jack Cadogan moving to Paraguay. Their son Leon Cadogan was born there in 1899 and later became a renowned anthropologist, working with the Guarani Indians. Meanwhile, Harry, Eric and Bronte Cadogan returned to the Northern Territory and the book traces their experiences there as well as in New Guinea during World War II.
