Description

This course introduces students to foundational aspects of writing practice and its scholarship. With a particular focus on reading and writing the short story, elementary aspects of creative writing are discussed and put into practice. Assessment requires students to compose and edit creative works according to industry standards, as well as compose critical responses to seminal published works. While students will learn formal aspects of creative expression in written narrative, they will also learn how to enrich their creative practice through critical reflection.

1 Draft creative work Individual 20% 1000 words

2 Critical response Individual 30% 1500 words

3 Short story Individual 50% 2500 words
