Description

This course focuses on techniques used in the writing of contemporary short fiction. It provides students with an understanding of technical aspects of writing in several genres, styles and viewpoints in the short story form, and approaches short fiction from a variety of perspectives such as history, aesthetics, and print and digital cultures. The purpose of the course is to develop an enhanced understanding of contemporary short fiction while promoting the student's ability to write engaging short stories. Students will have opportunity to develop skills and knowledge applicable to a range of publishing outcomes and will be provided with a supportive environment for producing a folio of original work reflecting their development during the semester.
