History

The competition was founded by Peter Grant and was supported by the Tasmanian Writers' Centre.  The competition offered  a first prize of $5000 and a two-week writer's residency in a national park . Works must have been previously unpublished non-fiction or fiction of between 2000 and 4000 words and with a major focus on the natural world. (Sunday Tasmanian 13 February 2011 p. 23)
