According to contemporary newspapers, the film covered 'the remarkable romantic incidents in early Australian history, which followed the Hamilton-Hume expedition, the discovery and settlement of Port Phillip, the roaring days of Lambing Flat, the bushranging era and the riots against the Chinese, which culminated in the declaration of the 'White Australia' policy.'
