This hymn was sung at several Sydney Anglican churches including St Andrew's and St Barnabas's and at the Darling Point and Parramatta churches, on 28 April 1868 during services of 'general thanksgiving for the restoration to health of his Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, K. G., after the gross attempt of the late H. J. O'Farrell to take his Royal Highness's life at Clontarf, Middle Harbour, on the 12th March last'.
