BiographyHistory

William Hoskins was a theatre manager and actor in colonial Australia. He had studied under Samuel Phelps in London and arrived in Melbourne in 1856. Hoskins toured the colonies prior to becoming manager of the Theatre Royal in Ballarat. He also managed Melbourne's Theatre Royal and the Royal Victoria Theatre in Sydney.

In the mid- to late 1870s, Hoskins was based in New Zealand. He then returned to Melbourne and retired from the stage in 1884.
