Description

This unit introduces students to the steps involved in producing polished works of short fiction: generating ideas through writing exercises, improving work through redrafting, and refining work through copy-editing. Seminars will focus on aspects of writing craft, while workshops will enable students to receive critical feedback on their own work and develop skills in critiquing the work of their peers.

Assessment

Microstory: 300 words (20%); short story: 2,000 words (40%); in-class critique (20%); class journal (20%)
