A biographical essay on Polish writer Joseph Conrad's travel experiences in Australia, which he visited by ship between 1878 and 1888. The essay is in three parts, Part I 'Porucznik z "Loch Etive"' (The Lieutenant of the 'Loch Etive'), Part II, 'Kapitan barku "Otago"' (The Captain of the 'Otago') and Part III, 'Starszy oficer klipra "Torrens"' (Senior Officer on the clipper, the 'Torrens').

  • According to the editor's notes, the three parts of the essay were originally published separately as a series of essays in issues 1117, 1119 and 1123, respectively, of the Polish language weekly Wiadomości (London, 1967).
