BiographyHistory

John Guare O'Shea enjoyed a long journalistic career. He was trained by Thomas Hunt at the Kilmore Free Press prior to setting up the Moira Independent. He then moved to Melbourne where he worked on the Boroondara Standard. He returned to central Victoria and worked at the Wangaratta Despatch before purchasing The North Eastern Ensign in 1887. O'Shea was still in charge of the Ensign at the time of his death nearly thirty-seven years later.
