Advertisement for various publications for sale including volumes of the Scottish Christian Herald, The Excitement for 1838 and a list of works by numerous authors including Scott and Cowper.

For the Benefit of Mr. J. P. Deane, single work advertisement

Advertisement for benefit performance for 'Mr. J. P. Deane, Leader of the Orchestra, and his Four Sons' at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, on 22 September 1838 to include the 'grand Operatic Legendary Drama, with the original Music, by Carl Maria Von Webber, in three Acts, entitled Der Freischultz', the 'grand Historical Drama, in three Acts, called Gustavus III' including 'the original overture' for Gustavus and '[t]he original Chorus "Long live the King," ... sung, for the first time, by the whole of the characters.' The program also lists the songs and dances to be performed during the evening.

The advertisement includes a description of the scenes and a list of the actors, and the names of the characters they portray, for Der Freischultz and for Gustavus.

Royal Victoria Theatre : Mr. Joseph Simmons' Benefit Night, single work advertisement

Advertisement for a performance for the benefit of Mr. Joseph Simmons at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, on 24 September 1838 to include 'for the first time in this Colony, a romantic Drama, from the pen of George Almar, Esq., called the Mountain King'; 'for the first time these four years ... the laughable Farce of Teddy the Tiler' and the 'celebrated and highly laughable Farce in two Acts, written by Theodore Edward Hook, Esq., and called Killing No Murder'. The advertisement lists the songs and dances to be performed and includes a description of the scenes and a list of the actors, and the names of the characters they portray, for each play. This advertisement fills more than one column of the newspaper.

An advertisement for a performance at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, on 27 September 1838 for the benefit of J. Meredith of the 'admired Drama of The Miller's Maid taken from Bloomfield's celebrated Poem so called', the 'laughable Farce, called Kill or Cure' and the 'Comic Extravaganza being a parody on the Maid and Magpie, entitled Dolly and the Rat'.
