Description

This unit introduces students to a range of Australian literature written for children and young adults, including picture books for older readers. Its primary focus is on exploring the cultural context of children’s literature and the reception such books receive both from their intended audience and from a more general audience, including the influential book awards. It explores the historical development of Australian literature for children as well as recent theoretical approaches to the literary study of such works.
