The author, possibly the editor of the Sydney Gazette, George Cavanagh, notes the building of the New Theatre in Pitt Street and mentions theatrical identities of the time, Joseph Wyatt, Simes (T. Simes?), Mrs Levy (Sarah Emma Levy) and John Lazar. The author also apologises to John Lazar for altering '... the words "Vivant Regina" appended [to the latter's advertisements in the Sydney Gazette] into "Vivat Regina".
