'Cheryl Chivers was born in Grafton, NSW, Australia on the mighty Clarence River. Surrounded by amazing floodplains, gorges, beaches, wetlands and rainforests, Cheryl developed a keen interest in environmental conservation. By studying Environmental Education, Children’s Literature and Storytelling, Cheryl was able to integrate her interest with her career in teaching and her love of writing. Since retirement, Cheryl now resides on a bush block near the sea which she shares with her husband and a variety of native animals.' (Starfish Bay)
