Labelled, I Became a Puppet Theatre of Protest, John Kinsella , single work prose
I've decided to go back to performing with hand puppets. Whin I was eleven and twelve, the puppet theatre was a big thing for me. For my family in general. Encouraged by Mum, we made papier-mache heads and fabric costumes. I constructed the theatre with 'Auntie J' out of an old packing crate that has at one stage been an aviary breeding box. I wrote the scripts, and maybe others did too,  but I can only remember my own. I wrote a lot of them. We each made puppets that expressed 'personalities', but not necessarily 'our own'. My Connection to My Grandmother’s Country, Marion Kickett , single work essay

'I looked at the old man who had come to sit near me next to the fire. He must have made the fire earlier and was back with some more wood which he placed on the fire, making it crackle and spring to life. I watched him from where I sat. He had a bone in his nose and some markings on his arms and his chest. He placed more wood on the fire and then sat to the side of me. He never looked directly at me, and I never looked directly at him.' (Introduction)
