The Thing, Bianca Valastro-Franco , single work novella

'The unique checked-pattern tape, otherwise known as police tape, was surrounding the graveyard. Crimes in this town were rare, in fact the last crime was fifteen years ago. Which was just a silly teenager stealing from the candy shop! Since there wasn’t much crime, no one wanted to be a police officer. So they’re just a bunch of old grumpy men directing traffic and asking people how their days are going. But this was different.'

Attempted, Annan Ahmed , single work novella
