A Painful Fighter : Decoding the Power Relation of Sybylla in My Brilliant Career, Zheng-fa Chen , Xue-mei Cai , single work criticism
'My Brilliant Career by the Australian writer Miles Franklin attracted immediate critical attention for its depiction of the heroine Sybylla Melvyn, a unique sample of a rebellious girl forever in search of independence. This article, using Michel Foucault' s power theory as a weapon, focuses on analyzing Sybylla's social power relations and their respective operations, with a view to exhibiting the particular struggles and frustrations of the protagonist before a conclusion is made that the image of the heroine is a progressive one in itself but it also has its shortcomings.'

'Throughout her life, Judith Wright had been actively advocating a harmonious relationship between man and man as well is nature. In her view, the only way to achieve this goal is to make full use of the power of love in human nature. That makes a chief theme of her poetry. In her poems, Miss Wright explained her own understanding of love.'
