While individual and collective stories started to be told over the last two decades through biographical, regional and conflict-specific narratives, Serving Our Country: Indigenous Australians, War, Defence and Citizenship is the first book to provide an extended exploration of Indigenous participation across nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first century conflicts, locating its intervention in the nexus between ‘Aboriginal history’ and ‘military history’.
