[Review Essay] Angus & Robertson and the British Trade in Australian Books, 1930–1970: The Getting of Bookselling Wisdom, Miranda Francis , single work essay
'Given the current discussion on the future of publishing in an electronic age, I was keen to read this book; but when I saw the description in the preface of earlier work in this area as ‘limited due to the anecdotal nature of reminiscences’, my heart sank. As a general reader, I enjoy a little reminiscence. And it soon became clear that, although this is a well-written, dense and painstakingly researched book, it is not one for a train trip. Indeed, even a specialist reader might enjoy more of the colour reminiscence could give this subject.' (Introduction)
